Hi my name is Julissa Zavala, I've been attending SDSCPA for 6 years now and ever since have been really into the art world. It has given me an opportunity to open up more into certain things that accommodate me and are appealing to the eye. Throughout these years I have had the opportunity to discover new ways of "Art" not just a pen/pencil on paper.
Junior year I was uncertain of what I wanted my senior exhibition theme to be. I was having trouble coming up with pieces I was actually proud of and that had meaning to me but nothing seemed to satisfy me. What did inspire me at last was my grandmother being diagnosed with heart failure, at that moment I knew what I was going to be focusing on. Every piece symbolizes a disorder, symptom, or disability that has been seen throughout many years in my family. I have made this homage dedicated to my family members that are currently fighting everyday with their disabilities and those who have passed away. I have decided on sticking with 3D art pieces done in clay, plaster, and wire because it gives you the opportunity to interact with the piece in a more realistic way.
